Filtration

Hi, I´m Elsa and I´ve done an experiment of how to separate mixtures.
I´ve done a mixture of sand and water sand I separate it by filtration.
How to separate mixtures by filtration?
You have to pass the mixture through a strainer and the insoluble
solid stays in the strainer and the liquid pass to a recipient.

And this is my experiment.

Evaporation

Hi, We are Mario y Lucas.

We have done the experiment of the page 11.
We mixed salt with water and then we heated the solution. We saw how the water evaporated and was separated from the salt by evaporation.
It occurs because the salt is a soluble solid and water evaporate easily.
The salt was behind the water.

Oxidation 6º B

Oxidation 6ºC

We (Mario and Lucas) have done the experiment of the page 17.

We used an apple,a banana,a strawberry, and an orange.
We put a piece of each fruit in a plate.
We check the appearance of each fruit every 20 minutes.

After two hours, we observed a few changes. The banana began to be affected by oxidation.
We decided to observe the appearance after two days.

Conclusions :
The apple and the banana are oxidised more because they do not have the skin that prevents the electrons from the fruit go to an oxygen atom.
The strawberry has reduced its size (we do not know why).
The orange is not oxidised because it has citric acid that prevents oxidation.
We attach 4 photos.

Heat and light. Experiment 8

Put a piece of paper in an ashtray and uses a magnifying glass to concentrate the sun's rays in an area of the paper. Do not move for about a minute.

Be careful! Do this experiment with an adult.

Heat and light. Experiment 7

Wrap an ice cube on black paper and another one on white paper (the paper has to be the same type). Put them under the sun for a few minutes.

You can also do it putting the ice cubes in glasses and wrapping them with black and white cardboard.

here is an example of the experiment nº 7

Heat and light. Experiment 5

Make a rainbow (page 29). You can use a CD instead a glass bowl with water and reflect the sunlight over  a dark wall.

Heat and light. Experiment 4

Fill a jar or a transparent glass with water and we put a stick or a straw vertically. Then,   move it from side to side slowly and watched through the glass. Add a cm oil and do the same.

I have done the experiment number 4

Heat and light. Experiment 6

Cut out a circle of white cardboard about 8 cm in diameter. Divide it into eight equal sectors. Color them with the seven colors of the rainbow in order and leave a blank. Goes a pointed stick through the center of the circle. Hold the stick to the circle with cellophane tape or plasticize. Make it spin like a spinning top or “pirindola”

You can also do it by sticking the card stock on a cd and pasting a marble in the middle hole. This is called the Newton disk
